Melbourne Photo a Day: Week nine

Day 57: Strictly Ballroom

Strictly Ballroom

My last day in Sydney was a very wet affair so the planned trip to Bondi was off and I took the opportunity to visit a few local museums. The PowerHouse was my highlight of the day, its interactive exhibitions were a hit with my inner child, but mostly I loved the displays of costumes from Strictly Ballroom. A ridiculous array of garishly coloured sequins, feathers and glitter, it’s just a shame you can’t try them on for size.

Day 58: Tucking in

Breakfast in bed

What’s not to love about the laziness of breakfast in bed. Delicious.

Day 59: Morning Cheer

Hellp Beautiful sign

This sign in Albert Park brightened a rainy morning considerably. I might have to make it part of my journey more often.

Day 60: Tommy’s Story

Tommy's Story sculpture on Beaconsfield Parade

Whenever I run past this bronze sculpture on Beaconsfield Parade it catches my eye. I’m yet to immediately recognise it and always wonder why someone has left their boots there. In fact, it commemorates Tommy Laing who, in the 1930s, swam to the work at the wharf every day.

Day 61: A night in

TV and sewing

A sewing project, a glass of red wine and Girls on TV all amount to a very relaxing night in.

Day 62: A week of sewing

Sewing projects

I was very busy on the sewing machine this week and here’s a glimpse of the items I’ve finished – a bag, a couple of cushions and a child’s skirt. The skirt was the winner of the projects but I’ll posting about it separately later in the week.

Day 63: Market Treats

Food from the market

After a very busy week and with a kite boarding lesson booked for later in the day, sustenance was very much at the forefront of my mind.   So South Melbourne Market was my first visit of the day and I came away with a delicious, nutritious, fresh and tasty haul to last me for the day.
